Dear Educator
We are very grateful that you have taken the time to visit the Thalun website, and hope you have had an opportunity to explore it in order to find out a bit more about the school and our approach to teaching, learning and life. Thalun works hard to be a positive and intellectually stimulating learning community where you, just like our students and parents, will have the opportunity to grow and in the process support others in doing the same.
Many schools speak about fit. While this term might be slightly overused, the idea of knowing what a school stands for and whether you can see yourself become a member of staff, and experience a sense of belonging, and intellectual and professional growth in your time here is important. Thalun does not have the space and facilities of some of the larger purpose built campuses, but this has in no way held us back from working to be the best possible learning environment we can be. In this year we are writting our curriculum with a focus on standards and the associated skills and content, we have completed our WASC accreditation.
We seek highly qualified educators who are experts in their discipline and grade level, and who have experience in best practices. We measure ourselves against the best schools in the region, and world, so we continually challenge ourselves towards positive growth, similar to what we do for our students. We work collaboratively, and meet on a bisemester basis in divisional groups to co-plan and work on annual, trimesterly and needs-identified goals. This can be demanding but ultimately very rewarding work.
