Teaching and Learning Approaches

Our goal is to provide students with balanced, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote collaborative practices, critical thinking, creativity and develop global awareness. The school programme combines core academic areas such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies with Music, Digital Technology, Art, Physical Education, Drama, Video Production.

The language of instruction is English for all classes apart from our Myanmar language program. Students experience the beauty and historical significance of Myanmar through field trips and cultural studies at each grade level. We believe that the learning of all students will be enriched through the host culture.

Approaches to teaching are based on best practices around the world and encourage inquiry and critical thinking. Teachers carefully assess each students’ development on an ongoing basis and provide an instructional experience that equips them with the skills, values and knowledge needed to be successful in academics as well as life.

As with most international schools, students will attend three levels of schooling prior to graduation from high school:

Early Childhood and Elementary School
(EC to grade 5, ages 3 – 11)

Middle School
(grades 6 to 8, ages 11 -14)

High School
(grades 9 to 12, ages 14 – 18)

Curriculum Framework:

Our curriculum framework is standards based, and is organized in units which build progressively on one another. The decision to follow the AERO (American Education Reaches Out) standards framework was based on the fact that while AERO is founded in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), it also recognizes the that our students are international, and reflects that cultural diversity in its content.
